Wayfarers to God: A Sister’s Series on Suluk

with Sayyida nejma davis

May Allah bless and increase all who joined our first Al-Maqasid Sisters Gathering, and all those who intended to be there. InshaAllah, these monthly gatherings will continue after Ramadan.

We pray that Allah continues facilitating our gatherings in pursuit of knowledge for His sake. May He make these gatherings a source of enlightenment, growth, and spiritual nourishment for all involved.

'Wayfarers to God: A Sister’s Series on Suluk' by Habib Ali Al-Jifri, facilitated by Sayyida Nejma Davis, serves as a comprehensive guide for all those on a journey of Spiritual Wayfaring or Suluk. Rooted in principles of self-reflection and sincere effort, this lecture series gently navigates the intricacies of understanding the nafs (ego) and the detrimental impact it can have. Habib Ali Al-Jifri sheds light on the path to liberating oneself from the nafs, delving into the exploration of base desires, evil inclinations, and diseases of the heart. His approach resonates deeply, permeating the soul and igniting a call to action.

Welcome Ramadan Event

Welcome to the Ramadan Event at Malv. MashaAllah, this was a beautiful event hosted by all the local Masajid for the greater community in preparation for the blessed month of Ramadan.

May Allah bless us with strength, patience, and guidance to make the most of this Ramadan, and may He accept all our prayers and good deeds during this sacred month. Amin

Monthly Family Dinners

Alhamdulillah, last Friday marked a special occasion as we gathered for our inaugural family dinner. These intimate gatherings aim to provide a beautiful opportunity for our community members, both young and old, to come together in a relaxed atmosphere, share conversation, and break bread. Looking ahead, we envision these gatherings as moments to extend warm welcomes to new families, showcase upcoming community events, and foster stronger bonds among us.

Moving forward, these gatherings will take place on the last Friday of each Gregorian month, starting from April 26th. May Allah continue to shower His blessings upon our community gatherings, uniting us in purpose, fortifying our resolve, and enveloping our endeavors with His abundant blessings. Amin

This weekly Majlis includes a recitation of the prophetic biography in poetry form followed by a counsel intended to connect the listener to the Prophet ﷺ and his teachings. The more we know about his life, character, and way, the more we will come to love and follow the one beloved to Allah.

Please note that during the month of Ramadan, there will be no Mawlid gatherings. Our regular weekly Al-Maqasid programming will resume after Eid InshāAllah

Embracing Gratitude: reflecting on Gatherings of Goodness - Muhammad davis

Attaining Your Ramadan Intentions- Yahya Rhodus

“We want to be people of determination. We want to be people of commitment. We want to be people of purpose.”

With the most blessed month of Ramadan only days away, Yahya Rhodus emphasizes the importance of having resolution after making one’s Ramadan intentions. He first explains what is meant by ‘resolution’ in this context and then discusses the major reasons why people give up on what they set out to do.

When one of you breaks his fast, let him break it with dates for they are blessed. If they are not found, let him break it with water for it is pure.
— Sunan al-Tirmidhi

The Quran & the Prophet ﷺ: Introduction

There is no better way to learn about the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ than to study what the Lord of the heavens and earth has mentioned about him in His Book. These sessions will explore the topic of the Quran and the Prophet ﷺ, highlighting the centrality of connecting to him ﷺ. It is commonly said the name of the Prophet Musa ﷺ is mentioned more than the name of the Prophet Muhammad—which is true—but what is often overlooked is that Allah speaks directly to the Prophet ﷺ in the second person throughout the Quran. We will explore some of these verses as well as those that indicate the great stature and special characteristics given to our Prophet by Allah ﷻ. Finally, we will take a brief look into some aspects of how the Prophet ﷺ was a walking Quran.
