Eclipse Prayer

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The sun and moon are not eclipsed due to the death of anyone. If you see them eclipse, pray and supplicate until that condition is lifted." [Bukhari] And another hadith states, "The sun and moon are two signs from among Allah's signs. They are not eclipsed due to the death or life of anyone. If you see them eclipse, then supplicate Allah, glorify Him, and give charity." [Muwatta]

In light of the upcoming solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th, we will gather at 3:15pm on that day for the Eclipse Prayer (Salāt al-Kusūf), which will then be followed by the Khutba. When experiencing natural events of such cosmic proportions, the Sunna of our Prophet ﷺ is to witness Allah's power and majesty, which should inspire within us fear and awe.

May Allah accept our prayers, forgive our sins, and ward off all harm and punishment from us and the Umma of our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
