Position Summary: (In-office - Macungie, PA)

The Development Director is a visionary and strategic leader responsible for initiating,  scaling and executing our development efforts from the ground up. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of Al-Maqasid, directly impacting our ability to serve and expand our community reach. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will craft and execute a comprehensive development strategy, get deep in the weeds, lead a team with empathy, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and respect. Your work will ensure the sustainable growth of our organization, enabling us to achieve our mission and amplify our impact.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Strategic Development Leadership: Create a robust development strategy that emphasizes areas such as  individual giving, major gifts, community-driven initiatives, etc. Define clear success metrics and adapt strategies in response to changing needs and opportunities.

  • Impactful Relationship Building: Cultivate meaningful relationships with donors and community partners, employing storytelling to compellingly communicate our mission, impact, and needs.

  • Innovative Fundraising: Execute innovative fundraising initiatives, leveraging technology and digital platforms to enhance donor engagement and streamline processes. Lead the organization in adopting creative solutions to fundraising challenges.

  • Operational Excellence and Technological Proficiency: Establish and manage efficient processes and systems, including CRM tools, to support scalable fundraising activities. Stay abreast of and proficient in digital tools and platforms relevant to modern fundraising. Efficiently deliver tax deductible receipts for donors at the end of the year. 

  • Collaborative Leadership: Promote a culture of collaboration, working closely with various departments to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals. Lead the development team with a focus on mentoring, professional growth, and fostering an inclusive environment.

  • Community Engagement and Events: Plan and execute compelling fundraising events and community engagement initiatives. Emphasize the importance of building community partnerships and actively participate in local events to enhance organizational visibility.

  • Adaptability and Growth Mindset: Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to new challenges and opportunities, maintaining a growth mindset. Encourage the development team to pursue professional development opportunities, including training and conferences.

Qualifications

  • BachBachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, with a deep commitment to Islamic principles and values.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in nonprofit fundraising, including success in building and scaling development functions.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences through storytelling.

  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in mentoring and fostering a collaborative, innovative team environment.

  • Proficiency in CRM and digital fundraising tools, with a willingness to stay current with technology trends.

  • Flexibility for travel and participation in community events outside traditional working hours.

Commitment

It is expected that the Director of Development will require a minimum of 40 hours per week.
