Position Summary: (In-office - Macungie, PA)

As the Director of Finance & HR at Al-Maqasid, you will be instrumental in establishing and leading our financial and human resources framework from the ground up. This vital role demands a strategic yet hands-on leader capable of developing sophisticated financial strategies, including forecasting, planning, and analysis, to ensure our organization's sustainability and growth. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will foster financial discipline within the organization, lead accounting and bookkeeping functions, and manage spend efficiently. Additionally, you will build the HR infrastructure to support and enhance our mission, dedicating a portion of your efforts to bolster development activities through strategic financial insights.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Advanced Financial Forecasting, Planning, and Analysis: Spearhead the financial forecasting, planning, and analysis activities, providing strategic insights to guide organizational decision-making and financial health. Develop and refine financial models to predict future revenues, expenses, and cash flows, enabling proactive management of financial risks and opportunities.

  • Budget Development and Management: Craft detailed, realistic budgets for all organizational activities. Monitor and enforce compliance with these budgets, adjusting as necessary to reflect operational realities and strategic priorities.

  • Reporting 

  • Procurement & Allocation: managed organizational procurement and allocate resources accordingly

  • Financial Controls and Governance: Establish robust financial controls and governance policies to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity and transparency. Lead regular financial audits and reviews to maintain compliance and accountability.

  • Accounting Excellence: Oversee all accounting and bookkeeping operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting. Manage payroll, accounts payable, and receivable, ensuring efficient cash flow management.

  • Zakat & Treasury Management: Manage, account for and administer all zakat funds 

  • Spend Management & Optimization: Identify and implement strategies for cost savings and efficiency, scrutinizing organizational spend, optimizing resource allocation, managing expenses, reimbursements, 

  • HR Infrastructure Development: Create and manage the HR function, aligning HR policies and practices with organizational values and goals. Foster a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and professional growth.

  • Collaborative Leadership and Development Support: Work closely with the executive team and department heads to align financial strategies with organizational objectives. Contribute to development activities, offering financial expertise to enhance fundraising and resource generation efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, HR, or a related field.

  • Proven track record in financial management, analysis, or FP&A within a corporate, technology or non profit setting

  • Expert proficiency in financial forecasting, planning, and analysis, with a demonstrated ability to develop complex financial models and provide actionable insights.

  • Strong foundation in accounting principles and financial reporting, with hands-on experience in managing bookkeeping, payroll, and financial operations.

  • Exceptional analytical and strategic thinking skills, combined with a commitment to transparency and integrity.

  • Effective leadership and communication abilities, with a passion for nurturing talent and fostering a collaborative work environment.

  • Deep alignment with Islamic principles and the mission of Al-Maqasid.

Commitment

It is expected that the Director of Finance & HR will require a minimum of 40 hours per week.
