Academy Eligibility

 
 

Minimum Admission Requirements 

  • Students must have a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA. 

  • Students must have passing scores on the PSSA and Keystone exams, or passing scores on comparable standardized tests.

  • Students must maintain an attendance record with no more than 10 absences during the school year.  

  • Students must meet eligibility requirements of PALCS.

  • Meeting or Exceeding Grade Level: Students who are on track or ahead will find the Academy's advanced curriculum appropriately challenging. 

  • Respectful and Responsible: Our emphasis on adab (moral etiquette) fosters a positive learning environment. Students who thrive here appreciate clear guidance and strive to be well-mannered role models.

Finding the Right Fit

While Al-Maqasid Academy is a wonderful option for many, it’s important to consider if our unique model aligns with your child’s specific needs. Here are some areas where we may not be the ideal fit:

  • Requiring Extensive Academic Intervention: Our program is designed for students who are generally on grade level. If your child requires significant academic support beyond the scope of our model, we recommend exploring alternative options.

  • Diagnosed Learning Differences: The Academy's current structure may not be able to fully accommodate students with diagnosed learning disabilities/delays, behavioral disorders/challenges, or attention difficulties.

  • Needing Individualized Behavior Support: If your child experiences ongoing behavioral struggles, a school environment with a higher level of behavioral intervention may be more appropriate.

Honesty and Guidance

At Al-Maqasid Academy, our love for our students compels us to be honest about what environment will best nurture their growth. Sometimes, the most loving thing we can do is acknowledge that our program may not be the perfect fit.
